The Barbershop Harmony Society, an international singing organization, was formed to preserve and encourage Barbershop quartet singing. The Seattle SeaChordsmen, founded 60 years ago, is a locally incorporated chapter of the Society, and it is our mission to "promote and encourage singing barbershop music, good fellowship and charitable activities in the Greater Seattle area with special emphasis on vocal music education in local schools."
	We provide enjoyment to ourselves and the citizens of the Greater Seattle area through the practice and presentation of Barbershop a cappella harmony. We serve our community through our concerts, Youth in Harmony, and community outreach programs. The Seattle SeaChordsmen are a group of amateur musicians that come together each week to practice and enjoy four-part a cappella harmony sung in the Barbershop style. We have a strong organizational history and adopt programs each year that stress good fellowship, service to the community, and vocal music education.
Our Concert Program, Youth in Harmony Program, and Community Outreach and Service Program are our commitments to our stated mission above. The purpose of the program is to entertain and bring joy to both audience and performer alike through our uniquely American art form Barbershop harmony.   The Concert Program features chorus and quartet performances of a thematic music program that explore a variety of styles and genres, including contemporary songs, working in collaboration with other area choruses, quartets, and ensembles; also, successful marketing of this program. We seek a diverse audience, representative of Seattle, which shares a love for a cappella American music.

The Youth in Harmony Program is for the encouragement of young singers to explore Barbershop music in either a quartet or ensemble setting, and to provide assistance music teachers who might not be familiar with the style.

The Youth in Harmony Program includes chorus and/or quartet performances and coaching with area students (K-12 and college level), inclusion of student quartets and ensembles in chapter shows, and sponsorship of students to Harmony Explosion, a three-day Barbershop harmony workshop.

Our Community Outreach and Service Program is designed to build community awareness of Barbershop harmony, recruit new members, and support of local charitable organizations. Activities include: sing-outs (informal or formal concert appearances) for local arts, business, senior citizens centers, and other community organizations. The program seeks a diverse audience, representative of Seattle and includes events such as the Folklife Festival (Seattle Center), Figgy Pudding (Pike's Market Senior Center & Downtown Foodbank), and other local settings.
