Our Directors
The SeaChordsmen have over a century of barbershop experience at the helm!
| Jeremy Matheis - Director Jeremy is a young director from Seattle with a real love of the Barbershop Harmony style. He received his BA in Music from Trinity Christian College and has completed all of his course work for his MM in Choral Conducting at the University of Washington. In addition to his position with the SeaChordsmen, Jeremy is Music Director for the Cascade Foothills Chorale. This group was recently highlighted in a Seattle Times article as one of five "Must See" Holiday programs. Jeremy is also Director of Music Ministries / Choirmaster at Sandpoint Community United Methodist Church in Seattle, Washington. Jeremy was previously Associate Director for the SeaChordsmen and is excited about getting back into Barbershop Harmony and the chapter. | | | Bob Mahony - Assistant Director Two years ago, Bob received his Golden Anniversary membership card in recognition of his 50 years as a Barbershopper, starting with the Worcester, Massachusetts, chapter. He joined the Seattle chapter in 1968 and served in just about every chapter office except treasurer and is a former Barbershopper of the Year. Before being transferred to Rhode Island in 1986, he was also chorus director for two years. A member of the Close Harmony Tradition quartet since its origin in 1976, he traveled from Providence, Rhode Island, to Sarasota, Florida, to rejoin the quartet for its International Senior Quartet Championship performance in 1987. On his return to Seattle in 1990, he once again took over directing duties on an interim basis while the chapter continued its search for a new permanent director. | | | Jim Smith - Associate Director Jim has been a member of the Seattle chapter for over 40 years. During that time, he has held just about every chapter office, has been a longtime member of the Washington Squares quartet, and took on directing responsibilities fifteen years ago and continues to serve as an assistant director. In recognition of his dedication, chapter members several years ago named him Barbershopper of the Year. He has organized many chapter shows over the years, and this year served as set designer for the show. | |
